America’s Cup Newport, RI – Course Map

America’s Cup Schedule Newport RI:

The America’s Cup World Series event will be based at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI. The event runs from Saturday June 23 – Sunday July 1, with team training sessions on June 23, 24, 25 & 26. The official practice day, with the entire fleet & race management on the water, is June 27. America’s Cup World Series Championship Racing is from June 28 to July 1. Newport is the final stop on the 2011-12 ACWS circuit – the overall winner will be determined during racing here!

Friday, June 22 – Newport Celebrates the America’s Cup World Series with Welcoming Events
ALL EVENTS ARE FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! (events are weather permitting; will be cancelled if it rains)

6pm to 7pm – Navy Band Northeast performs at Washington Square
7:30pm to 8:15pm – Live Improv by the award-winning Bit Players in the IYRS parking lot
8:45pm to 10pm – Outdoor Screening of “America’s Cup Then & Now” in Queen Anne Square, with live narration and commentary by yachtsman Gary Jobson (bring blankets; lawn/beach chairs)

Saturday, June 23 – ACWS Newport Opens FREE to the public ($10 fee to park onsite at Fort Adams)

10am – Official ACWS Exploration Zone ribbon cutting ceremony – FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
10am – noon – Sail Newport Family Sailing Festival
10am – 4pm – Sail Newport Youth Challenge Regatta
11am – ACWS Village opens; Exploration Zone opens
*AC45 Team Training; occurring throughout the day. NO ADMISSION FEE!
5pm – America’s Cup World Series Village closes

Sunday, June 24 – FREE to the public ($10 fee to park onsite at Fort Adams)

10am – noon – Sail Newport Family Sailing Festival
10am – 4pm – Sail Newport Youth Challenge Regatta; Awards ceremony at 4:30pm
11am – ACWS Village opens; Exploration Zone opens
*AC45 Team Training; occurring throughout the day. NO ADMISSION FEE!
5pm – America’s Cup World Series Village closes

Monday, June 25 – FREE to the public ($10 fee to park onsite at Fort Adams)

10am – noon – Sail Newport Family Sailing Festival

10am – noon – Sail Newport Family Sailing Festival
11am – ACWS Village opens; Exploration Zone opens
*2pm – Official AC45 Practice Race; NO ADMISSION FEE!
4:30pm to 8pm – “Opening Night Celebration” @ Fort Adams. Welcoming and introduction of the teams, special performance by the Island Moving Company, raising of the flags of competing nations, and words from selected dignitaries, followed by live concert by The Ravers; cash bar.
8pm – America’s Cup World Series Village closes

Thursday, June 28 – *1st DAY OF CHAMPIONSHIP RACING! ($20 fee to park onsite at Fort Adams)

10am – noon – Sail Newport Family Sailing Festival, presented by Fidelity Investments
11am – ACWS Village opens; Exploration Zone opens
*12pm – AC World Series Newport – Championship Racing, fleet and match racing (12pm-4pm)
4pm – 7pm – Live concert featuring Comanchero
7pm – America’s Cup World Series Village closes

4pm – 7pm – Live concert featuring The Honky Tonk Knights
7pm – America’s Cup World Series Village closes
7pm – 10pm – America’s Cup Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony @ Marble House. SOLD OUT!

Saturday, June 30 – *3rd DAY OF CHAMPIONSHIP RACING! ($20 fee to park onsite at Fort Adams)

10am – noon – Sail Newport Family Sailing Festival, presented by Fidelity Investments
11am – ACWS Village opens; Exploration Zone opens
*2pm – AC World Series Newport – Championship Racing, fleet and match racing (2pm-5pm)
