Block Island Town Council Votes To Ban Balloons

No more balloons on Block Island.

The town council unanimously voted on Tuesday to approve the new law that prohibits the sale, distribution and use of balloons on the island.

The new rule is set to begin April 9th with a $200 maximum fine for anyone selling or using balloons. The ban is designed to help protect the environment.

Provincetown and Nantucket have also banned balloons.
