Calendar: 39th Annual Newport Irish Heritage Month – March 2016

This Newport Irish Heritage Month calendar is based on input from the the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Newport, Rhode Island AOH Pipes & Drums, the Newport Irish Heritage Association, the Museum of Newport Irish History, the Newport Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, and other organizations which promote the Irish culture in Newport and the surrounding area.

SUNDAY – February 28th
Green Eggs & Ham Brunch

• Benefit for 60th Annual Parade in Honor of St. Patrick, Hibernian Hall, 2 Wellington Avenue, Newport, 02840
• 9:00am – 1:00pm – Buffet style.
• Tickets: $10.00. Special family prices are also available.

Dancing at the Forty Steps

• This is the official opening event of the 39th Annual Newport Irish Heritage Month.
• Forty Steps is on the Cliff Walk, at the East end of Narragansett Avenue, Newport.
• 3:00pm – Weather permitting
• Commemorating the informal dances held here by the Irish who made Newport their home when
“Newport was Irish!” during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
• Live traditional music, demonstration of traditional Irish set dancing.
