Newport, RI Tennis Hall of Fame
Part of ATP World Tour, the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championship is one of 15 North American tournaments and the only grass court event in North America. Top male players come to Newport direct from Wimbledon to compete for the Van Alen Cup and $398,250 in prize money.
The highlight of the tournament week is the Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2012. This year’s inductees are Jennifer Capriati, Guga Kuerten, Randy Snow, Manuel Orantes, and Mike Davies.
The Tennis Hall of Fame, a National Historic Landmark facility, hosted the first US National Tennis Championships in 1881, a tournament that was held in Newport, RI for 34 years and evolved into today’s US Open.
