Rhode Island cops had their hands full this Thanks Rhode Island cops had their hands full this Thanksgiving, yanking 54 alleged drunk drivers off the roads during the holiday travel rush, authorities said. Between noon on Nov. 26 and 6 a.m. on Dec. 1, police from all 38 local departments — along with the Rhode Island State Police — were out in force as part of a statewide crackdown. And they didn’t come up empty. “Every impaired driver we removed from the roadway this Thanksgiving holiday period represents a potential tragedy that was prevented,” said Chief Thomas Oates, president of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association and Woonsocket’s top cop. Oates didn’t mince words: “Driving under the influence is not a mistake. It is a dangerous, illegal choice that puts everyone on the road at risk.” He praised officers across the state for staying laser-focused during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, saying law enforcement remains “united in our commitment to hold impaired drivers accountable.” Holiday cheer? Sure. Holiday DUI patrols? Absolutely. Rhode Island wasn’t playing around. #rhodeisland #newportbuzz
The Patriots are officially back — and not even th The Patriots are officially back — and not even the Giants could slow down this runaway freight train. New England bulldozed its way to a 10th straight win on Monday Night Football, hammering the Giants 33–15 and reminding the NFL that the AFC once again runs through Foxborough. From the opening snap to the final kneel-down, it felt like vintage Pats dominance — fast, ruthless, and almost unfair. Drake Maye delivered another franchise-caliber performance, carving up New York for 282 yards, two touchdowns, and a clean 77% completion rate. But the highlight came from Marcus Jones, who exploded for a 94-yard punt-return touchdown — his second of the season — to blow the game open. Add in Kayshon Boutte’s sixth TD of the year and this offense suddenly looks turbo-charged. The Pats raced out to a 17–0 lead, choking the life out of a Giants team that didn’t seem to realize Monday Night Football starts on time. New York showed brief signs of life with Jaxson Dart’s 30-yard strike to Darius Slayton, but a botched field goal and a disastrous kickoff fumble erased any hope of a comeback. Maye kept throwing haymakers, including a gorgeous 33-yard bomb to Kyle Williams, while the defense clamped down and special teams feasted like it was 2004. By halftime, it was 30–7 and the Giants were basically begging to go home early. A late wildcat TD made the final score slightly less painful, but the Pats slammed the door and added one more field goal for good measure. The result? An 11–2 record, the first team in the league to hit 11 wins, and a fanbase that went from “wait til next year” to “is this another dynasty?” in roughly eight weeks. Remember when this team started 1–2? Yeah, neither do we. Now the Patriots enter their long-awaited bye atop the AFC, riding their longest win streak since the Brady years with Josh Allen and the Bills waiting on the other side. For now, Pats fans can breathe easy — New England isn’t just relevant again… they’re terrifying. 📸 NE Patriots
