Donate a Racquet for Tennis Youth Group Programs and Get Free Tickets for the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships!
The International Tennis Hall of Fame is accepting donations of usable tennis racquets to be distributed to youth groups and recreation programs this summer. The racquets will be used in youth tennis clinics hosted at the Hall of Fame during the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, and then distributed to various youth groups. For each usable racquet donated prior to July 5, 2012, the International Tennis Hall of Fame will award two complimentary vouchers that may be redeemed at the box office during the tournament for seats in the South Stands for matches to be held on Monday, July 9 and Tuesday, July 10.
The Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, which will be played July 9 -15, is the only men’s professional tennis tournament in New England, and the only tournament played on grass courts in North or South America. This year’s player field is comprised of some of the world’s best tennis players, many traveling to Newport directly from Wimbledon. Among those slated to compete are defending champion and current world. No. 10 John Isner; the record setting, 11-time Grand Slam champion doubles team, the Bryan Brothers; world No. 18 and Japan’s No. 1 player, Kei Nishikori; Canada’s No. 1 player Milos Raonic, currently ranked world No. 22; and former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt.
A fun-filled schedule of special events top off the action on court including free tennis clinics for all ages, tours through the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum, and more. Free tennis clinics for all ages will be offered by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) on the Hall of Fame grass courts on Monday, July 9 and Tuesday, July 10 – the same dates that the racquet donation tickets are valid.
Usable racquets may be dropped off at the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships Tournament Office, located at 11 Memorial Boulevard in Newport, daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Racquets may also be sent to the International Tennis Hall of Fame prior to July 5, 2012 to the mailing address: 194 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
