Heritage Fire Comes To Gurney’s On August 12th For The Ultimate Culinary Experience

America’s beloved, live-fire, open-air culinary experience comes to Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina on August 12, 2018 with an all-star cast of chefs who specialize in whole animal and sustainable fish cookery. The list of heritage and heirloom foods includes dry-aged beef, whole pigs, lamb, oysters, duck, an array of sustainable fish, chicken, artisan cheeses, and heirloom vegetables. With a greater goal of promoting honest food prepared by artisans, celebrating family farming, and shining a gastronomic spotlight on the hard-working people who are raising heritage breed animals, the all-inclusive wood-fired feast will feature more than 30 prominent chefs, farmers, sommeliers, distillers, brewers and barkeeps all working in concert to create luxurious moments that educate the palate. Heritage Fire by Cochon555 will showcase over 20 notable chefs and butchers, each grilling heritage-breed animals en plein air against the stunning backdrop of Newport Harbour, and inspired by global food cultures and sustainable fisheries. A preview of participating chefs include Joshua Smith of Moody’s Delicatessen & Provisions (MA), Brendan Joy of Steel & Rye (MA), Brian Young of Cultivar (MA), Dave Vargas and William Myska of Ore Nells BBQ (ME), Tatiana Rosana of Outlook Kitchen at The Envoy Hotel (MA), Dan Amighi of Cafe du Pays (MA), Jameson Poll of Our Fathers Delicatessen (MA), Joshua Lewin of Juliet (MA), Alex Sáenz of Bisq (MA), Brian Mercury of Oak + Rowan (MA), and David Robinson of Formaggio Kitchen South End (MA) to name a few.

The event’s ultimate aim is to provide education to consumers and create an experience that guests can sink their teeth into: honest food from real farmers. Every event is a fundraiser for Cochon555’s sister charity, Piggy Bank — a start-up farm in Missouri that serves as a kickstarter for new family farms and a safety net for those in the wake of a disaster (flood, fire and disease).
