Art Space

Local Group To Host Fundraiser For Community Art Space Sunday, March 27th

A local group headed up by Ryan O’Sullivan from Broadway All-Star is hosting a fundraiser to help secure a flexible space for the creation and presentation of all forms of art in Newport, RI. A space that is open to everyone, all ages and to incubate our fledgling arts community.

The event is scheduled for Easter Sunday at Tavern on Broadway at 7pm.

The space is intended to be used for:

Studio space – a small membership fee will give artists the chance to use the space to create, Newport is an incredibly expensive place to rent a studio space full time, this will negate those costs by creating a collective space for very little money.

Gallery space – a place for artists to have openings and show off their work.
performance space- all ages venue for expression of music/dance/moving visual media.

Meeting space – a place for community organizations to hold meetings to help further the betterment of our little city.

Performance space – all ages venue for expression of music/dance/moving visual media.

This will be the only place in Newport that will be focused on featuring the art and not selling drinks, thus creating an environment for more creativity rather than creating an atmosphere focused on increasing bar/food sales.

The event will feature free food provided by Tavern on Broadway, musical performances by The Teledynes, Andie Belle, Jon Rossi, Bobby Loudon, Randy Robbins, Warbler Roost, AnamCara & Bob Kendall; painting lessons with Mermaid Masterpieces, live art with Kim Gardner and live comedy.

Here’s the plan

They’re doing a flexible funding campaign to raise $10,000 that will go towards the first few months of rent for the space as well as the initial build out costs and startup fees.

The Newport Arts community is thriving right now, this project is going to be a catalyst to push this community to the next level.
