Newport Polo Seeks 2016 Gala Beneficiary

For the 16th consecutive year, the Newport Polo Club welcomes nominations of nonprofit civic or charitable organizations to be chosen as the beneficiary for its next gala, on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 in one of Newport’s famed mansions.  Each year the Newport Polo Club selects a beneficiary to support with the fundraising aspects of the gala.

Nominations should be submitted via email to agnes@nptpolo.com.  The gala committee, on behalf of the Polo Club, will review nominations based on the following criteria for consideration:  an active local volunteer corps to serve on the gala auction committee; 501c3 status; and additional consideration will be given to the nonprofit’s relevance or impact on our community and to the timeliness of need & mission.

Newport’s summer polo season reached its social climax last summer with Ball Carnaval, the Newport Polo Club’s 15th annual International Polo Charity Ball at Rosecliff, where generous and fun-loving attendees turned out in Brazilian Carnaval-inspired Black Tie for a night of exquisite food, dancing and heart-warming philanthropy, to welcome guests of honor, the Brazilian polo team and gala beneficiary Roger Williams Park Zoo, raising nearly $18,000 towards a new Tropical Rain Forest Building project underway this year.  For details and photos from Ball Carnaval and past galas, please follow the link.

Newport Polo’s gala has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to support nonprofit organizations. It also hosts the Newport International Polo Series, one of the most popular summer time traditions in the New England region, with public exhibition polo matches every Saturday in June through September.
