Portsmouth Dog Attacked By Coyote

On January 25, 2016 the Portsmouth Police Animal Control Officer received a report of a large breed dog being attacked by a coyote in the area of Black Point Lane. The Animal Control Officer is investigating the incident and verified that the dog sustained a large bite wound however had managed to escape from the coyote.

The owner observed the incident and was able to assist the dog then transport the dog for treatment. The Animal Control Officer is requesting that the public report any coyotes acting abnormally in the area to dispatch at 401-683-0300 or you can reach the A.C.O. directly at 401-643-0136.

The picture attached to this post is of a coyote that has been observed in the area. It has not been determined whether or not this coyote was involved in the dog attack.
