Providence Fires Dancing Cop Over #BlackLivesMatter Comments

Retired Providence Police officer Tony Lepore, Sr, the dancing cop who usually dances while directing traffic during the holiday season in Downtown Providence at Westminster and Dorrance Streets, has been told by Chief Hugh T. Clements Jr. and Police Commissioner Steven M. Paré that his services are no longer needed.

Dancing cop Fired Statement

You’ll recall that in early October, GoLocalProv broke the story that a Dunkin’ Donuts worker wrote “BlackLivesMatter” on a Providence Police officer’s cup on Federal Hill.

At that time, Lepore called for a boycott of Dunkin’ Donuts until that worker was fired.

We’ll miss you Tony!

PS – I’m not going to say that Tony Lepore and Ken Goyette from the Clark Cooke House are the same person. I’m just going to say, I’ve never seen both of them in the same room at the same time!

Update: 11/28 – East Providence has hired Tony and he’ll be dancing there for the holidays.
