Sail Newport has announced the Heineken Reggae Rally will be held at the Volvo Ocean Race Newport Stopover on Saturday, May 9 at 6 pm at Fort Adams State Park, inside the Fort. Three popular reggae acts will perform live in this order:
The Ravers: 6:00 p.m.
Mighty Mystic: 7:15 p.m.
John Brown’s Body: 8:30 p.m.
The only North American Stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race will be hosted by Sail Newport, Rhode Island’s Public Sailing Center, the State of Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Management (DEM), Discover Newport, and the City of Newport.
In addition to the reggae concert, one other main concert will be announced for May 14 as part of the twelve-day Stopover public celebration . The Race Village opens onMay 5 and is free to the public through May 17. The Race Village will include a marine Exploration Zone, kids’ activities and games, a food court, entertainment, team compounds, sponsor pavilions, the Heineken Docks beer garden, a theater, and up-close viewing of the race boats during the Pro-Am Race, the In-Port Race and the transatlantic Leg Start to Lisbon
General Admission Tickets to the event will cost $25 in advance and $35 on the day of the concert.
