RIP Eddie Berube

Edward B. Berube, 67 of Newport, RI passed away peacefully Saturday, October 8th 2016 at home with his family at his side.

He was the husband of 41 years to Dorothy L. (Dwyer) Berube.

Born in Newport, RI on January 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Burns) Berube.

He was a 1967 graduate of Rogers High School and later a graduate of Roger Williams University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He worked for Electric Boat in Quonset for 6 years before beginning a 32 year career at Newport Electric, now National Grid. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Eddie was an avid runner and one of the founding members of the Newport Running Club, competing in numerous road races and marathons throughout New England. He was the treasurer at Gooseberry Beach for 6 years and looked forward to music at the beach on Wednesday nights. He enjoyed Sunday morning “Breakfast Club” with his friends, playing golf at Wanumetonomy, and vacationing with friends and family in Mexico.

He is survived by his son Edward and his wife Kathryn, his daughter Jennifer, his sister Margaret (Berube) Leary, brother John Berube, sister Anne (Berube) Kibble, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 13th 2016 from 4-7pm in the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home on 465 Spring Street, Newport, RI. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, October 14th 2016 at St. Augustin’s Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport, RI at 10am.
