Santa Will Tour Newport For Four Nights With Newport Fire & Police Escorts

The Newport, RI Fire & Police Departments will be assisting Santa Claus to tour the neighborhoods of Newport, RI. He will be visiting our area on four nights from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm. He plans on riding with us through the streets to see the City’s children on Tuesday December 8th, Thursday December 10th, Tuesday December 15th and finishing up on Thursday December 17th.

Santa’s visit is weather dependent. If there is inclement weather on any night he is scheduled, he will do his very best to complete his visit in that area of the City on the following night. If there are any cancellations or updates please visit the Newport Fire Department’s Facebook page at

His planned routes are as follows:

Tuesday, December 8th

The North end of the City West of Broadway: Santa will travel from Touro St. to One Mile Corner, from Broadway to JT Connell Highway & Farewell St. These neighborhoods include Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd, Van Zandt Ave, Bedlow Ave. and Newport Heights

Thursday, December 10th

The North end of the City East of Broadway& Spring St.: Santa will travel from Memorial Blvd North to the Middletown line. These neighborhoods include Kay Street, Vernon Ave, Bliss Rd & Eustis Ave.

Tuesday, December 15th

The South end of the City West of Spring St. to Fort Adams and Touro St. to Harrison Ave.: These neighborhoods include Spring St. to Thames St. and the historic 5th Ward.

Section 1
Starting at Chartier Circle at 6:00 pm and then driving thought Fort Adam housing at 6:15 pm
Section 2
Thames St. /Old Fort Rd. to Halidon Ave. and from Wellington Ave. to Wickham Rd. 6:30 pm
Section 3
Coggeshell Ave. to Old Fort Rd. /Carroll Ave. and Morton Ave. to Ocean Ave 7:00 pm
Section 4
Spring St to Thames St. and Memorial Blvd. to Morton Ave 7:30 pm
Section 5
Spring St. to Thames St and Touro to Memorial Blvd. 8:00 pm

Thursday, December 17th

The Southeast end of the City & the Point section: He will travel East of Spring St. to Bellevue Ave. and Annanadale Rd and from Memorial Blvd to Ocean Ave. Also, Santa will be visiting the Point section, Bayside Village & Rolling Green neighborhoods.

Parents to be safe please make sure that your children are accompanied and that they greet him from the sidewalk and do not enter the roadway. Santa can’t wait to see you all, but does not want any of the City’s children to get hurt. Keep your eyes and ears open for Santa’s approach on the dates listed for your area.
