Shark spotted in RI waters just a few feet away from unsuspecting swimmers
The region has had another shark sighting. This time the shark, suspected to be a tiger shark 6 – 8 feet in length, was spotted off of Easton Beach in Westerly, RI just 10 to 15 feet from the shoreline and just a few feet away from unsuspecting swimmers and body boarders.
Just last week a lifeguard spotted a shark 10 yards off of Sam’s Beach between Misquamicut State Beach and Wuskenau Town Beach.
There have also been 35 confirmed sightings of great white sharks off of Cape Cod this year. Swimmers are advised to stay clear of seals, which are an inviting food source for great whites, and to swim close to shore.
