WaterBrothers Paddle-Out for Shep Martin

The Newport, RI surfing community came out in droves yesterday for a heart-felt surfing tribute in memory of OWB Shep Martin. Approximately 100 surfers took to the ocean, with wreathes and flowers between their teeth, for a paddle-out and prayer circle.

Newport, RI godfather and surfing icon Sid Abruzzi led the crew of surfing brothers and sisters in silent prayer for their fallen brother as a crowd of 150 watched on somberly as the surfers raised their clasped hands skyward. Amid their cheers for Shep and splashing towards the heavens to honor their water brother, salt water mixed with tears.
