The Newport Police Department is asking for the pu The Newport Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two women suspected of stealing a wallet from a grocery store earlier this month.

According to police, the incident occurred on Dec. 18, 2025, at approximately 7:42 p.m. inside the Stop & Shop on Connell Highway in Newport.

Investigators say the wallet was left on the counter of the Citizens Bank teller window inside the store. Surveillance video allegedly shows two female suspects approaching the area, with one appearing to keep watch while the other removed the wallet from the counter. Both individuals were then seen leaving the store together.

Police have released photographs of the suspects and are urging anyone who recognizes either woman to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Matt Clarizio at mclarizio@newportri.gov or by phone at 401-845-5775. Police say any assistance in identifying the individuals would be greatly appreciated.
