The warm, happy days of summer are a great time to slow down, reflect, and think about what makes you happy. Is it the beach? How about boats, traveling, or little bitty kittehs? What if we told you that happiness isn’t something that comes with visiting your happy place and then disappears when you go back to reality? The truth is, happiness isn’t something that we have to constantly chase. In fact, it is often very close by, just buried under layers of, well, under layers of Us.
The Journey to Happiness
To begin the journey toward long-lasting happiness, we must first have some basic self-knowledge. Understanding ourselves involves a process that opens up a ton of doors (some good, some bad) to happy things, therefore, in this episode, we introduce you to Harry Benjamin’s classic book: Basic Self-Knowledge. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but stick with us. In time, you will come to see how ridiculously effective this stuff can be for balancing out your crazy life and delivering big doses of glee to your doorstep. At the very least, it makes for good entertainment while chilling at the beach. Listen in!
With each episode, hosts Buck & Helena share their Newport experiences in segments like Dine & Dish, Adventure Island, and Shop Newport.
Buck and Helena are a couple of old punks who survived what they call “the toddler years” (plus a few extra). As they slowly regain their sanity, this smart and silly couple are once again venturing out into the world to get their party on. They may be a bit slower these days, but they are also a lot wiser. And honestly, a lot more fun. Read more about your hosts.
While That Newport Show features a lot of what Newport has to offer both visitors and residents, the essence of show is about two grown-ups who really have no business being grown-ups, and the things they get up to in Newport – as well as at home on their small New England horse farm.
Each week the Sparkle and Boom Podcast Network airs a new episode. You can stream or download episodes from our website, or listen on iTunes, GooglePlay, Stitcher Radio, or your favorite podcatcher app. We hope you’ll join us!
