Getting to a Rhode Island FC game just got a whole lot easier.
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) and Rhode Island FC have announced a new gameday partnership designed to reduce traffic and simplify travel to Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket.
Starting May 3, a special RIPTA route—R-1636—will run every 8 to 10 minutes before and after matches, connecting key locations in Pawtucket and Central Falls directly to the stadium. With a sellout crowd of 10,500 expected for opening night, fans are urged to arrive early and take advantage of the free shuttle service.
The R-1636 loop will pick up passengers from several locations, including:
-
Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center (300 Pine St.)
-
RIFC Reserved Parking Lot M7 (100 Main St., former Apex site)
-
Exchange after Broad, Stop ID: 055990
-
175 Main Street (across from Slater Mill)
-
Roosevelt Avenue, Stop ID: 023125
-
Division St. Bridge (50 Division St.)
-
Ivan Perez Memorial Park, the closest stop to the stadium
The service will begin three hours before kickoff and continue until one hour after postgame events wrap up. RIPTA staff will be on-site along the route to assist fans.
“This partnership underscores RIPTA’s commitment to convenient, sustainable transportation,” said RIPTA CEO Christopher Durand. “We’re helping reduce traffic, support local events, and connect communities.”
Rhode Island FC President David Peart added, “Providing free bus service makes it easier for fans to experience the magic of gameday. The RIFC-themed buses are moving murals of Rhode Island pride.”
