PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Cops hunting the gunman who kil PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Cops hunting the gunman who killed two Brown University students and wounded nine others dropped new surveillance footage Monday as the manhunt roared back into high gear.

The clip, released at 2:30 p.m., shows a figure dressed head-to-toe in black walking calmly down Waterman Street just minutes after the massacre inside the Barus & Holley engineering building. The video was captured at 4:06 p.m. Saturday at 144 Waterman St., along the path police say the shooter took after fleeing the scene.

Attorney General Peter Neronha called the individual a person of “significant interest” as investigators scramble for answers. The new footage comes one day after police released — then freed — a previously detained person of interest whose connection to the crime unraveled by Sunday night.
By Monday afternoon, Providence officers were going door-to-door on the East Side, collecting surveillance from homes and businesses. A heavy police presence could be seen throughout the neighborhood as investigators combed through tips.

Saturday’s shooting triggered a 12-hour campus lockdown and a massive response from state and federal authorities. Police say the shooter exited on the Hope Street side, turned right onto Waterman, and vanished into the city.

Investigators will brief the public at 5 p.m.

Anyone with information or footage is urged to call 401-272-3121 or submit tips to the FBI hotline.
