This shocking clip comes from @offshoreharrysportf This shocking clip comes from @offshoreharrysportfishing, who was off Coxes Ledge — more than four miles from the wind turbine pile driving — and could still hear it loud and clear.

If the noise carries that far above the water, imagine what it’s doing beneath the surface to whales and other marine life. NOAA has already reported an “unusual mortality event” among whales since offshore wind projects began pounding away off the East Coast.

Critics are calling it what it is: ecoterrorism in the name of green energy.

Environmental advocates warn the relentless hammering may be disrupting migration routes, feeding patterns, and whale communication — turning the ocean into a war zone of sound.

The offshore wind debate has been heating up, and this video is only throwing more fuel on the fire. Or in this case, pile-driving on the pods.

A Rhode Island Department of Environmental Managem A Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management marine biologist encountered a massive ocean sunfish, or Mola mola, during a kelp monitoring dive off Newport last week.

The unusual sighting happened as the team returned from the dive and spotted the giant fish gliding through the water. The sunfish swam slowly alongside the boat and dive team, likely feeding on an area full of comb jellies, giving them a rare chance to observe it up close.

Ocean sunfish are the heaviest bony fish in the world, reaching more than 2,000 pounds. Despite their odd, disk-like shape and slow pace, they are strong swimmers capable of diving as deep as 2,000 feet.

These massive fish are seasonal visitors to Rhode Island waters, often seen basking near the surface while seabirds pick parasites from their skin. Their large dorsal fins are sometimes mistaken for sharks or even baby whales.

Little is known about the mysterious Mola mola, making encounters like this an extraordinary glimpse into the state’s rich marine life.
