For one weekend only, residents and hospitality wo For one weekend only, residents and hospitality workers in Rhode Island’s Newport and Bristol Counties are being offered a rare perk: free or discounted access to 19 of the region’s most iconic cultural sites.

Dubbed “Be Our Guest” Days, the program will run from Saturday, June 21 through Monday, June 23. It’s a coordinated effort led by the Preservation Society of Newport County to thank locals and hospitality professionals for their role in sustaining the area’s vital tourism economy.

Participants can enjoy complimentary entry to The Breakers, Marble House, The Elms, Chateau-sur-Mer, and Green Animals Topiary Garden. Kingscote will be open for one day only on June 21, and the Isaac Bell House will welcome guests on June 22 and 23. Proof of Newport County residency or hospitality employment is required.

“This initiative is our way of giving back to the community that supports us year-round,” said Trudy Coxe, CEO of the Preservation Society. “It’s a chance for locals to reconnect with the rich history in their own backyard.”

While specialty tours—such as Beneath The Breakers and The Elms Servant Life—are not included, visitors can access self-guided content via the @newport.mansions app.

In addition to the Preservation Society sites, the following venues are participating:

* Artillery Company of Newport Museum – Free (June 21–22)
* Audubon Nature Center & Aquarium – Free for up to four guests (June 21–23)
* Blithewold Mansion – Free (June 21–22)
* Colony House – Free (June 21–23)
* Fort Adams Trust – Free (June 21–23)
* Herreshoff Marine Museum – Free (June 21–22)
* Loeb Visitors Center at Touro Synagogue – Free (June 21–23)
* Museum of Newport History – Free admission plus 10% gift shop discount (June 21–23)
* Rail Explorers – 20% off (June 23 only)
* Redwood Library – Free (June 21–22)
* Hamilton Family Aquarium – 50% off admission (June 21–23)
* Vernon House – Free (June 21–22)

Just in time for summer, the popular Providence-to Just in time for summer, the popular Providence-to-Newport Ferry is back on the water starting Friday, June 20. Operated by Seastreak, the ferry offers four daily roundtrips seven days a week through Columbus Day weekend, with weekend stops in Bristol once again included.

The hour-long ride aboard the Ocean State glides down Narragansett Bay, under the Newport Bridge, and ends on America’s Cup Avenue in Newport. It’s a scenic and stress-free alternative to the drive between the two cities, avoiding highway congestion and parking hassles.

Fares remain unchanged from last year: $12 one-way for adults, $6 for children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities or Medicare cards. Round-trip fares are $24 and $12, respectively. Bikes and pets ride free, and parking is complimentary at the Providence terminal located at 25 Portugal Parkway.

Tickets can be purchased at RideTheBayRI.com, by calling 1-800-BOATRIDE, or in person at terminals.

Now in its 10th season, the ferry was launched by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation in 2016 to reduce vehicle traffic and emissions. RIDOT will also offer special holiday service to the Bristol Fourth of July Parade.

“Affordable, convenient, and family-friendly, the Providence-Newport Ferry is a Rhode Island summer favorite,” said Governor Dan McKee.

Amtrak riders can purchase joint rail-and-ferry tickets to Newport, and RIPTA will continue providing free shuttle service between the Providence terminal and downtown destinations including the train station and Kennedy Plaza.
