Teen Killed, Three Others Injured in Partial Collapse at Portuguese-American Citizens Club

A 15-year-old girl was killed and three others were seriously injured Saturday evening in Portsmouth when a portion of the Portuguese-American Citizens Club collapsed during a high school graduation party, police and fire officials confirmed.

Emergency crews from Portsmouth and surrounding communities — including Fall River, Bristol, Middletown, and Naval Station Newport — responded to the scene following reports of individuals trapped under debris.

Two 17-year-old females and a 47-year-old woman were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, officials said. Their current conditions have not been released.

Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee posted on social media that his office is “closely monitoring the situation” and extended condolences to those affected. “Our hearts are with the Portuguese community and all those impacted,” McKee said, thanking first responders and expressing hope for the victims’ recovery.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. The cause of the structural failure remains under investigation.
