Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport temporarily shut down all operations Monday as severe winter weather intensified across the region, officials said.
The airport cited safety concerns for the decision, meaning flights were not able to arrive or depart during the suspension.
“Due to the severity of winter weather conditions, Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport has temporarily suspended all airport operations,” the airport said in a statement released Monday.
What travelers should do:
* Check your flight status before leaving for the airport.
* Contact your airline directly for the latest on cancellations, delays and rebooking options.
* Monitor airport updates as conditions change.
Airport teams said they will continue to track the storm and will restart operations “as soon as it is safe to do so.” Additional updates will be shared when available.
“The safety of passengers, crews, and staff remains our top priority,” the statement said. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
The shutdown is the latest disruption tied to the storm, which has brought heavy snow and strong winds that can reduce visibility and make runway conditions unsafe.
