Ray Botelho Takes 2nd in the Pumpkinman Half Ironman

Ray Botelho, a native Newporter and 1992 graduate of Rogers High School, continues his amazing 2015 Professional Ironman Triathlon season. Earlier today, Ray placed 2nd in a field of 550 racers at the Pumpkinman Half Iron in South Berwick Maine.

The 42-year-old Botelho, who first turned pro at age 22, seems to only get better with age. His 4:05:50 finish represents his career personal best Half Ironman time of his professional career.

Botelho’s next race will be on September 27th when he races Ironman Chattanooga, Tennessee.

“I’m really pleased with how I performed today and think this bodes really well for me two weeks from now in Chattanooga,” Botelho said referring to today’s personal record. “I feel as strong as I ever have and I’m really proud to represent us “old guys” out here in the sport.”

In other Ironman competition this year Botelho took 9th at 70.3 Eagleman in Cambridge, Maryland and 12th at the IRONMAN North American Championships in Woodlands, TX.
