Robert Ivey hit and killed by car on West Main Road

Middletown police report that Rob Ivey, 48, was struck and killed by a car Wednesday night on West Main Road around 9:30pm. According to police, Ivey stepped off the sidewalk into the southbound lane near Carmella’s Pizza and was struck by a 68 year-old Newport woman. 

Ivey was treated at the scene for serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at Newport Hospital.

No charges have been filed at this time but the accident remains under investigation.

Ivey was a 1989 graduate of Rogers High School where he was an all-state running back on one of coach John Toppa’s championship football teams.
