6 –  A Community Gives Back – A Benefit for Jaime Crowley & Family at 5th Element (Saturday 12pm – 4pm)

Jaime, a beloved member of our community, is battling a rare blood disease leaving him in need of a bone marrow transplant. This event is intended to alleviate any added strain on the family so that they may focus on his treatments and recovery. Donations will be accepted at the door. There will also be a silent auction with some amazing items – all proceeds will benefit the Crowleys.

7 – Downton Abbey Tea at Hotel Viking (Saturday & Sunday 2pm – 4pm)

In celebration of Season 6 of Downton Abbey, the final season of the award-winning PBS TV series, Hotel Viking will once again offer the special Gilded Age Tea in addition to regular tea service, a tradition at the hotel since 2005. The Gilded Age Tea is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm until 4pm from January 3 until March 6, 2016 when the 6th season of the award-winning PBS drama ends.

12 – Dancing at 40 Steps to kick off Irish Heritage Month (Sunday 3pm)

This event not only officially begins Irish Heritage Month but also commemorates the many Irish who in the 19th and 20th centuries came to work and live in Newport, building Fort Adams, constructing and working at the mansions, and making Newport what it is today.

Irish Heritage Month is a celebration of all things Irish throughout the month of March with music, lectures, tours, food, and, of course, the 60th annual parade in honor of St. Patrick on Saturday, March 12.
