Pivotal Brewing Company is bringing its signature bold beer and vibrant energy to Newport’s Broadway district, opening the doors to its second location with a three-day grand opening celebration set for May 16–18.
The new space features a taproom, beer garden, and private event area, all designed to reflect the eclectic, artsy vibe that put Pivotal’s Bristol location on the map. Known for its modern lagers, hazy IPAs, and a rotating selection of expressive styles, Pivotal’s Newport taproom will also offer a gluten-free hard tea—a fan favorite—and plans to add boutique wines to the beverage list this summer.
“We didn’t want to just replicate Bristol—we wanted to build something that feels distinct but still deeply Pivotal,” said Todd Nicholson, co-founder of Pivotal Brewing Company. “This new space gives us a chance to reach a new community, try new things, and continue doing what we love: building community and connection around bold beer and great experiences.”
The Newport taproom features ten rotating draft lines, a curated menu of pop-up food vendors, and space designed to bring people together. Guests can enjoy colorful interior rooms, a spacious outdoor patio, and a dedicated private event area perfect for small celebrations and gatherings.
Adding to the creative atmosphere, the space showcases rotating art exhibits from local artists. The debut collection features bold, expressive works by Rhode Island-based artists Meredith Wolf and Jordyn Fullaway.
“I come from a big Southern family, so our house was always full—friends dropping by, family piling in, and someone always cooking something,” said Rebecca Ernst, co-founder of Pivotal Brewing Company. “That’s the vibe we try to create every day: laid-back, welcoming, and a place where anyone can feel at home.”
While the Bristol taproom will remain the primary location for larger group meetups and casual hangouts, the Newport space is crafted with more intimate experiences in mind—giving locals and visitors alike another reason to raise a glass in Rhode Island.
