Justin Callahan is making it clear: his sights are Justin Callahan is making it clear: his sights are set on Los Angeles 2028. The Harvard University standout and reigning College Sailor of the Year stormed to victory at the Long Beach Olympic Class Regatta in the 470 Class, dominating the July 12–18 event with 8 first-place finishes over 12 races and a final score of just 15 points.

Sailing alongside veteran crew Lara Dallman-Weiss, Callahan (Newport, R.I./Miami, Fla.) used the week-long regatta — a key proving ground for Olympic hopefuls — to launch his official campaign for the 2028 Games.

“It was a healthy start for what will be a long and challenging Olympic campaign,” said Callahan, 22, who returns to Harvard for his senior year this fall before transitioning to a full-time push for the Games. “I was most pleased about the fact that we improved our boat speed and boat handling as the regatta went along.”

Dallman-Weiss, who has Olympic experience of her own, praised their chemistry on the water: “We worked hard to adapt to the conditions each day, and our teamwork really paid off.”

For Callahan, the leap into the 470 class marks the next chapter in a career that already includes 3 world titles and 16 national championships. As captain of the Harvard sailing team, he has led the Crimson to three straight collegiate national championships, cementing his status as one of America’s top young sailors.

With Long Beach serving as both a test and a statement, Callahan’s message is clear: the road to LA 2028 has begun, and Newport’s rising star intends to be on the starting line.

Christine Baranski is heading to Newport this summ Christine Baranski is heading to Newport this summer for a night fans of ‘The Gilded Age’ won’t want to miss. The Emmy-winning actress, known for her role as Agnes van Rhijn on the hit HBO series, will speak at a special edition of the John G. Winslow Lecture on August 7 at The Elms.

The event comes on the heels of HBO’s announcement that The Gilded Age has been renewed for a fourth season. It’s a fitting location for the conversation — the show has filmed scenes in seven Newport Mansions, including The Elms. Season 3, which premiered June 22, is the series’ highest-rated yet, with Baranski’s performance earning critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination.

The evening will be moderated by Jared Bowen, Emmy Award-winning Executive Arts Editor and host of GBH’s The Culture Show. “We are honored that Christine will be joining us for what will surely be one of the highlights of the summer here in Newport,” said Preservation Society CEO Trudy Coxe.

Baranski’s career spans stage and screen, with two Tony Awards, an Emmy, and memorable roles in The Good Wife, The Good Fight, Mamma Mia!, and Chicago.

Additional tickets for Christine Baranski in Conversation: “The Gilded Age” and Beyond are now available at NewportMansions.org/Events.
