Edward King House to Host Annual Mayor’s Luncheon Honoring Advocates for Older Adults

The Edward King Senior Center will host its Annual Mayor’s Luncheon on Friday, June 27 at 12:00 p.m., honoring individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact on the lives of Newport’s older adults.

The community event will be emceed by Mayor Charlie Holder and Vice-Mayor Lynn Ceglie and will celebrate those recognized for their exceptional service, advocacy, and support of the senior community.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Volunteer of the Year: Robert Nula
  • Champion for Seniors: Helen Hames
  • Lifetime Achievement Awards: Newport City Councilor Lynn Ceglie and Board Member Barbara Peters
  • Senior Friendly Business Award (Inaugural): Wyndham Newport Atlantic Resort

The Edward King House, located at 35 King Street, is a cornerstone for Newport residents aged 50 and older, offering a wide range of programming to promote health, learning, and social engagement. From fitness classes to cultural events and essential services, the center aims to help seniors remain active and connected.

The Mayor’s Luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $35 per person and include lunch and an awards ceremony. They can be purchased online at www.edwardkinghouse.org or in person at the Center.
