Top Rhode Island Democrat Party Consultant Tweets About Hoping for the Death of Senator Lindsey Graham

A top consultant for the Rhode Island Democrat Party is under fire for a tweet she authored Monday about the health of Senator Lindsey Graham.

Kate Coyne-McCoy, whose Twitter bio lists her as “Leading RI Democratic Party”, tweeted about hoping for Senator Graham’s death after he announced that he was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Monday.

Coyne-McCoy took to Twitter and posted, “It’s wrong to hope he dies from Covid right? Asking for a friend. #CovidIsNotOver #Lindseygraham.”

Rhode Island Democrat Chairman Representative Joe McNamara was none too pleased with the conduct of Rhode Island’s top consultant for the Democrat Party saying on the Gene Valicenti show that he is “furious over the statement made regarding the United States Senator’s health.”

“It’s a horrible thing to say, especially in light of the fact that we have lost so many loved ones to this pandemic,” McNamara said. “It’s very, very hurtful.”

Coyne-McCoy took to Twitter Tuesday morning with an attempt at damage control only to get ratioed to the moon and back.

According to an article written in March by The Public’s Radio regarding Coyne-McCoy’s hiring, “Coyne will lead the party through elections next year featuring contests for governor, four other general offices and the General Assembly, focusing on data, communications, grassroots organizing, and finance.”

Graham has been public with his support for the vaccines and received his shots in December. During a visit this spring to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Graham said that “the sooner we get everybody vaccinated, the quicker we can get back to normal.”

As of publication, there have been 200 million Covid cases worldwide and more than 4 million deaths.

UPDATE:

Per John DePetro. This isn’t Coyne-McCoy’s first Tweet wishing death on Republicans.
