1 – Newport Skating Center Tree Lighting and Grand Re-Opening (Friday 5pm)

We’re ready to light downtown Newport’s beacon of seasonal cheer at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Grand Opening on Friday, December 11th at 5pm at the Newport Skating Center!

Celebrate with good cheer, treats, the debut of the Haven Brothers Concessions Food Truck, carolers, visits with Santa and the elves, skating performances with the Island Skating Academy and of course, get out on the ice for the first skate of the winter.

2 – Live Music At One Bellevue At Hotel Viking With The Playboys (Friday 7pm)

3 – Reggae Fridays at Tavern On Broadway with The Copacetics (Friday – 9pm)

5 – Letters for our troops at Willy’s Burger Bar (Saturday 11am – 3pm)

This Saturday, Community Police Officer (CPO) Greg Belcher is cohosting a community event with Willy’s Burger Bar & Rotisserie asking families to write “Letters For Our Troops.”

6 – Live Jazz at Greenvale Vineyards  (Saturday 1pm -4pm)

What has great wine, a fun crowd, and live music? Greenvale Vineyards does every Saturday afternoon through December 12th!

7 – Mariner Gallery Holiday Reception (Saturday 5pm -8pm)

Please join the Mariner Gallery for our Holiday Reception on Saturday, December 12th from 5:00-8:00pm at 267 Spring Street, Newport, RI. The collection added works from Russ Kramer and Joe McGurl, in addition to 19th century art, such as Edward Moran’s depiction of S/Y Madeleine, the New York Yacht Club’s 1876 America’s Cup defender. The contemporary masterpiece is Peter Arguimbau’s rendering of the Museum of Yachting’s 36th Classic Yacht Regatta. Peter and his son, Andre, spent the year restoring the 1865 colonial into the Mariner Gallery and have expanded to a location in Greenwich, CT. 14 – Community Chanukah events at Touro Synagogue, (Sunday 2pm – 5pm)

A history “answer hunt” for children and adults at the Loeb Visitors Center. Free and open to everyone. From 3-5 p.m. a traditional Chanukah party at the Levi Gale House, 85 Touro St. Light the Chanukah candles and stay to enjoy the latkes, music, dancing, children’s entertainment and more. Free, reservations strongly recommended.
