An elderly man was injured in a low-speed accident An elderly man was injured in a low-speed accident outside his home on West Narragansett Ave Thursday evening after his vehicle rolled forward and pinned him against his house, according to emergency responders. Officials said the man had exited his car while it was still in drive. The vehicle then moved forward, trapping him below the knees against the exterior of the home. First responders were called to the scene amid concerns about a potentially prolonged extrication. A medical helicopter was initially requested but later canceled due to mechanical issues. Crews on the ground were able to free the man more quickly than expected. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital as a precaution. Authorities have not released an update on his condition, but early reports indicate the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. #newportri #newportbuzz
