The New Apartments At The Calvert Are Amazing And They Have An Open House This Friday!

Alright, let’s just cut to the chase. Newport has a housing shortage, period. And Newport has an incredible lack of newly renovated, market rate, cool apartments. So many of us live in broken up old homes that were built before Teddy Roosevelt was president, with paper thin walls and creaking floors. And if you’re cool with that, stop reading right now because this post is not for you.

Have you heard about the new apartments going into the old Cranston Calvert school on Broadway that Conor Melville has been building for the last couple of years? They are amazing and they are the greatest addition to Newport in since I can’t remember when. And here’s a cool bonus, preference goes to those of us who work in Newport!!! New York and Boston peeps will have to find someplace else.

The Calvert Newport is a full gut-renovation and repurposing of 50,000 square feet in what was an unused vacant building. Located just across the street from Parlor on Broadway, it’s the only high-end residential rental building with not one, but two elevators in the city. It’s also the only rental building in Newport that offers solar power energy. The building consists of 34 residential units and 64 onsite parking spaces. Super tall ceilings, brand new everything, high end appliances, etc…This place is pretty badass. This is something you’d expect to find in the Manhattan’s Meatpacking District or Tribeca.

A building spanning two centuries of use, nestled within the diverse neighborhood of Newport’s North End, the former school building serves to provide housing for those young at heart while creating a landmark to the Broadway streetscape. A streetscape that has become well known for welcoming visitors and residents alike into downtown Newport.

Entering the building you quickly learn the finishes remain true to the building’s bones and original use but have been coupled with the modern conveniences of the 21st century. The original stairwells are infused with fresh updates and modern lighting. Spacious and softly lit corridors create warmth and openness by means of a sophisticated simple mix of materials, colors, and artwork.

Units start at $1,800 month and go up to $2,750. I’ve been through every single one of them and here’s what I can tell you. These apartments are far and away the best available housing inventory in Newport at that price point. In fact they’re actually probably slightly underpriced.

So here’s the deal, the are ONLY 34 units and these will sell out in a second. If you want to upgrade your living space in Newport, The Calvert is the place for you.

They’re having an open house this Friday, January 28th from 4-6pm and they’re looking at a March 1st move in date.

I’m kicking myself for recently purchasing a new condo, because I’d one billion percent be taking one of these units. Not kidding. I’m jealous of everyone who gets a unit.

If you’re looking for a new place in Newport, do NOT miss this open house!!!
