Kathryn Frances Borges Obituary

Obituary: Kathryn Borges (1931-2025)

Kathryn Frances Borges, 93, of Middletown, Rhode Island, left us peacefully on May 8 surrounded by her family. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Kathryn, or “Kay,” will always be remembered for her kindness and love of family.

Born on October 1, 1931 in Newport, Kay grew up the daughter of Richard and Eleanor Sullivan and sister to Richard, John, Ethel and Patricia.

Kay graduated from Roger’s High School in 1949. She was employed by The Newport Daily News and The Providence Journal. Her hobbies included cake decorating and she was part of a bowling league at Aquidneck Lanes. In later years she enjoyed Facebook and always shared a kind comment on posts of family and friends. She also loved having breakfast with her “Breakfast Club” friends twice a week at McDonald’s.

On November 27, 1950 Kay married the love of her life, Julius J. Borges, Jr. The two shared a devoted marriage that lasted 67 years and yielded six children, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with a sixth great-grandchild due in August.

Kay is survived by her sons, Julius, William, Kevin, Paul and Richard, and a daughter, Kathleen Vieira of Allen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius and her brothers Richard and John.
