The 2017–18 Volvo Ocean Race is the 13th edition of the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race. It started in Alicante, Spain and will conclude in The Hague, Netherlands.At the stopovers, teams will have premium bases to interact with the fans.

Newport Bermuda Race: June 15th

The 635-mile biennial Newport Bermuda Race is the oldest regularly scheduled ocean race, one of very few international distance races, and (with the Transpac Race) one of just two of the world’s regularly scheduled races held almost entirely out of sight of land.

The Newport 4th of July Fireworks will go off at 9:15pm on Wednesday, July 4th. The fireworks are shot over Newport Harbor from the point at Fort Adams.

Prime viewing locations are on Newport Harbor, Fort Adams, King Park, all along the waterfront, West Deck, Dockside, Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina & Sky Bar at the Clarke Cook House. 

35th Annual Black Ships Festival: (TBA – July 2018)

The Black Ships Festival offers a variety of events that emphasize both Japanese art and culture. Events include a formal Gala, Japanese Arts & Crafts such as Origami and Ikebana; Martial Arts, and a Japanese Tea Ceremony. A highlight will be the Taiko Drums!

Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open: July 15th – 22nd

The Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open features a field of 32 singles and 16 doubles players direct from Wimbledon. The tournament is played on the same grass courts as the first ever US OpenChampionships and is the only ATP event played on grass in North America.

Candy Store Cup Superyacht Regatta 2018: July 26th – 28th

The Candy Store Cup 2018 Superyacht Regatta is hosted and organized by Newport Shipyard and Bannister’s Wharf and will take place July 26-28, 2018 in Newport, RI. The Candy Store Cup carries forward the tradition of the Newport Bucket and invites yachts over 90′ LOA to race.

The Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival has been called the best wine fest in the country. Signature events include the two-day Grand Tasting with hundreds of wines and celebrity chef demonstrations; the Wine & Rosecliff Gala; Burgundy Grand Cru Dinner; the Vintner Dinner, a Sunday Jazz Brunch, food and wine seminars, and the Newport After Dark Party.

Christmas at the Newport Mansions: December 2018

Christmas at the Newport Mansions, an annual celebration by The Preservation Society of Newport County that delights visitors and helps to create unforgettable family memories, is a must for the holidays in Newport, RI. The Breakers, The Elms and Marble House will each be decorated with beautiful trees, ornaments, fresh flowers, and evergreens through January 1st.
