Forbes: Rhode Island Ranks Among Ten Worst States For Business

Once again, Rhode Island ranks near the bottom in the Forbes list of the states with the best and worst business climates.

The list ranks states across 40 metrics related to business costs, labor supply, regulatory environment, economic climate, growth prospects, and quality of life.

Here’s what Forbes had to say:

Rhode Island #42
Gross State Product: 57 billion
5 year annual GSP growth: 0.9%

“Rhode Island had a net migration out of state for every year from 2005 to 2013. With the third worst unemployment rate over the past five years, residents are leaving the state in search of jobs. Rhode Island had been stuck in the bottom five overall of Forbes Best States For Business for seven straight years before 2016.”

So at least we’re no longer in the bottom five?
