RIP David Lemler

David Lemler, 79, of Middletown, Rhode Island, passed away at home on June 2, 2018.

David was born December 24, 1938 in South Bend, IN to the late Orville Lemler and the late Joanne (Kennedy) Lemler.

David was married to Patricia (Kelly) Lemler for 58 years.

David served in the Navy for three years before joining the Newport Fire Department. David was a firefighter for over 35 years and retired as the Deputy Chief. He was the youngest Captain appointed in the history of the fire department. Throughout his career, David received many commendations and awards. David was a big Notre Dame fan, being from South Bend, he loved the “Fighting Irish”.

He had a passion for antique cars and loved working on them with his son Jeff. They took yearly trips to Carlisle PA for The Chrysler Nationals with their car buddies and enjoyed all the local car shows. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who were one of the most important parts of his life.

David is survived by his wife Patricia Lemler and his children; Jeffrey Lemler and his wife Barbara of Middletown, Kathleen Lemler-Rinfret and her husband Matthew of Newport, Amy Minick and her husband Jared, of Newport. Patrick Lemler and his partner Kim Poux of Middletown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Minick, Colby Minick, Kirsten Lemler , Sydney Rinfret , Corey Field , Nathan Field, and also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son David.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway in Newport.
His funeral will be held on Friday June 8, 2018 at 9:00 from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Mann Ave.

Burial will be in Middletown Four Corners Cemetery (Beth Olam Cemetery).
