Via Via Evicted, Thames Street Location Shut Down After 20 Years

Via Via, Newport’s favorite late night Thames Street fight club pizza place has been shut down after being in business for 20 years.

The shut down stems from months of unpaid rent.

Thames Street Ventures LLC, owner of the building received a judgement against Mohammed Badr and Via Via on November 7, 2017 for $87,780.96 which includes past due rent and attorney’s fees. A writ eviction and trespass notice, which bars access to the property, was executed on January 9, 2018.

For now this seems to be the end of an era for Newport’s most popular late night dining/ pickup spot, often referred to among singles and the Ashley Madison set (mostly from Barrington) as the “Last Chance Cafe.”

RIP Via Via. Thanks for bringing BBQ Chicken Pizza to Newport!
