Rajeev Ram vs Isner

Day 2 Results at The Hall of Fame Tennis Championships

In an all-American three-set battle on Bill Talbert Center Court, Rajeev Ram saved one match point to defeat top seed John Isner 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(8). Ram won both the singles and doubles titles at Newport in 2009.

“It’s sort of suited to old-school tennis, and I feel like I can play that pretty well with almost anyone around,” said Ram. “It came down to a couple points… I was able to get him today.”

Americans Jack Sock and Sam Querrey advanced to Round 2. Sock defeated Radek Stepanek 6-2, 6-0 and Querrey overcame Matt Ebden 7-6(3), 7-6(1). In Round 2, Querrey will face Dustin Brown, who fired 18 aces to advance with a 7-6(4), 6-3 win over Adrien Bossel today.

In doubles action, Mark Philippoussis won his first ATP World Tour doubles match since 2006, partnering with Ryan Harrison to defeat Tatsuma Ito and Lukas Lacko.

Play was suspended at 7:59 pm due to darkness, forcing the match between Tommy Haas and Adrian Mannarino to continue Wednesday.
