CCRI Named ‘2-year College of the Year’

CCRI was named the nation’s “2-Year College of the Year” by Education Dive this week, largely because of the Rhode Island Promise Scholarship. Since Promise was implemented in 2017, CCRI’s two-year graduation rate for first-time, full-time students has more than quadrupled. And the graduation rate for students of color has increased by more than 500%.

“We’re working hard to make CCRI one of the best community colleges in America, and I’m thrilled to see our progress recognized by Education Dive,” said Governor Gina M. Raimondo. “Our efforts to eliminate financial barriers and align classroom learning with industry demand will benefit students and our state for years to come.”

“Being recognized as ‘2-Year College of the Year’ is a tremendous honor and recognizes the transformative work the college has undertaken to catalyze student success and achievement,” said CCRI President Meghan Hughes. “Such a recognition is only possible with the support and commitment of our faculty and staff who are driving this work and who believe in our students.”
