Newport’s Fall Recycling Day to be held at Easton’s Beach on Saturday, October 29th

The Newport Public Services Department’s Clean City Program will hold a Fall Recycling Day for ‘harder to recycle’ items on Saturday, October 29th from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. rain or shine in Easton’s Beach east parking lot, 175 Memorial Blvd., Newport.

This event will accept the following items for recycling: Paper shredding, scrap metal, rigid plastics, clothing and useable household items, books, cooking oil, cardboard and bicycles. The other portion of the event is open to Newport Residents ONLY – Bulky Waste Amnesty Day – to dispose of TWO Bulky trash items per household MAXIMUM (there is a six item max for homeowners who own multiple homes.) Acceptable mattresses and box springs will also be recycled from Newport Residents only. ONLY mattresses and box springs that are clean, dry and absent of any living organisms will be accepted (there is a 4 item limit). Residents must call in advance to make an appointment and they must bring proof of residency the day of the event (401)845-5617. Appointments will be accepted until close of business on October 27 th , 2016. There will be no entry until 8 a.m. and gates will close promptly at 12 p.m.

This event will NOT accept hazardous waste, Freon containing items (ACs, Fridges, freezers) electronics, plastic bags or Styrofoam.
