Newport Antiques Show

Newport Antiques Show Returns July 22nd-24th

COLLECTING TRENDS FEATURED AT THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY NEWPORT ANTIQUES SHOW

Includes Antiques Appraisal Event

There are many antique events across the country, but there are few that offer the opportunity to view and learn about the antiques from the country’s leading experts in one venue. The 2016 Newport Antiques Show offers this type of opportunity July 22nd – July 24th when over 40 dealers present a diverse selection of Americana antiques and collectibles.

“Given that this year marks the Show’s tenth anniversary event, we’re celebrating collecting in all its forms,” explains the Newport Historical Society’s Executive Director Ruth Taylor who helped found the Show in 2007. “The Show will feature the exhibit vignette series Curating the Future: Trends in Collecting Today presented by the NHS, which highlights collecting trends of the past through specific objects in our collection, alongside more current collecting trends.”

Additionally to coincide with the Show’s theme of collecting, owners of antiques can meet with a specialist from Freeman’s during the July 24 th antiques appraisal event What’s It Worth.

Collectors will receive a personalized verbal appraisal for one or two objects from a Freeman’s specialist, some of whom have appeared on PBS’ Antiques Roadshow. A special ticket is required which includes a Newport Antiques Show gift bag and one-day admission to the Show.

Tickets cost $30 for one antique appraisal, or $50 for two, and can be purchased at NewportAntiquesShow.com.

The 2016 Newport Antiques Show takes place at the St. George’s School Ice Rink, 375 Purgatory Road in Middletown, RI. It opens with the very elegant Gala Preview Party on Thursday, July 21 st at 6pm which is annually hailed as “the best summer party in Newport.”

Weekend admission costs $15 per person or $20 for a three-day pass; Gala Preview Party tickets start at $150 per person. Tickets can be purchased on the Show’s website (NewportAntiquesShow.com). For out-of- town visitors, the Show offers free shuttle transportation from the Discover Newport Visitors Center.

“For anyone interested in collecting, whether a seasoned veteran or someone who’s curious to learn about the antiques world, the tenth anniversary Newport Antiques Show is a not-to- be-missed event,” Taylor concludes.
