Newport Polo Seeks Nominations for 2018 Gala Beneficiary

In the season of giving, the Newport Polo Club is reaching out to the nonprofit community for nominations of civic or charitable organizations for consideration as the beneficiary for its 18th annual charity gala, on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, in one of Newport’s famed mansions.  Each year the Newport Polo Club selects a new beneficiary to support with the fundraising efforts of the gala.

Nominations should be submitted via email to agnes@nptpolo.com and must include information to satisfy the following criteria for consideration by the gala committee, on behalf of the Polo Club:  the nonprofit organization is required to have an active local volunteer corps to serve on the gala auction committee; it must be a 501c3, and additional consideration will be given to the nonprofit’s relevance or impact on our community and to the timeliness of need & mission.

Last year, Gala la Bamba raised over $32,000, doubled by a matching grant, for Newport’s restored Opera House Theater & Performing Arts Center, toward its grand reopening next year.

Newport Polo has raised over $1.3 million for civic and charitable organizations in the past 26-year modern era of the polo club, America’s first polo club.  Charitable initiatives include the International Polo Charity Ball, annual benefit matches, and countless ticket donations to the Newport International Polo Series, which are long-standing traditions and an integral part of Newport Polo’s community efforts.  (For information on fundraising at the All Charity Day on Sunday, July 15th, bringing together area organizations for an afternoon of enjoyment and support. Organizations are invited to plan a day at polo for their supporters, hosted by Newport Polo at the International Polo Grounds. Opportunities to participate are open to qualified 501-3c organizations. Click Here to download the guidelines to participate.  For more information, please email agnes@nptpolo.com.)
