A “severely neglected” cat that authorities said was found frozen to a box near a dumpster in Warwick is on the mend.
The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said Warwick Animal Control discovered the male Persian cat outside Bayside Apartments on Sandy Lane Thursday.
“His fur was severely matted and covered in urine,” the RISPCA said. “The cat was found frozen to the inside of the box that he was located in.”
The cat was taken to Warwick Animal Hospital, where staff members have been treating him. They shaved 11.2 pounds of fur from him, according to the RISPCA.
Authorities said staffers also detected a heart murmur and are caring for his infected eyes.
The RISPCA, which said that the cat was likely previously owned because he was neutered and de-clawed, is investigating.
Ok, I know that sometimes I can hyperbolize a bit but this time I’m serious, the person who mistreated this cat should be put to death immediately. It is just beyond me how someone could treat a defenseless animal in such a way.
New law: If you abuse a cat to such a degree that it ends up frozen to a box in a dumpster and has to have 11 pounds of fur shaved off, then you die. Sorry buddy, do not pass go, do not collect your $200. Just step in front of the firing squad and fuck off!
